January 27, 2025 – The City of Newark Department of Public Works Director Tyreek Rolon announced a new night schedule for recycling collections.

*Note: The new schedule applies to recycling ONLY. Garbage collection schedules remain unchanged.

All recycling collections will take place between 6 PM to 2 AM on the designated collection days below:

  • Zone A
    • Monday from 6 PM to 2 AM (into Tuesday morning): Paper and Cardboard
    • Thursday from 6 PM to 2AM (into Friday morning): Containers, Bottles, and Cans
  • Zone B
    • Tuesday from 6 PM to 2 AM (into Wednesday morning): Paper and Cardboard
    • Friday from 6 PM to 2 AM (into Saturday morning): Containers, Bottles, and Cans

Please follow the rules below for proper recycling pick up:

  • DO NOT place your recyclables in a plastic bag. Instead, place your recyclables loose in your bin and set on the curb.
  • Set your recycling on the curb by 6 PM on your designated collection day. No violations will be enforced for early or late recycling put outs.
  • Flatten your cardboard, and tie them in a bundle or place in your recycling bin.

Violating these rules will result in your recycling not being collected.
