Newark Public Works Launches Campaign to Fight Against Illegal Dumping

Newark Public Works strongly encourages the public to report illegal dumpers.
Illegal dumping is not only an eyesore, but it has the following consequences on our community:
- It can cause soil, water, and air contamination, thus increasing risk of illness.
- Illegal dumping on side streets and sidewalks increases risk of injury.
- It increases the presence of rodents and other pests.
Residents who spot illegal dumpers are encouraged to call Public Safety at (973) 733-6000 to file a report. Illegal dumpers run the risk of arrest or vehicle seizure.
‘Illegal dumping is a crime—violators will be prosecuted.’
The Department thanks residents for joining our collaborative effort to stop illegal dumping and keep Newark clean.
