About
The Department of Public Works was created by Mayor Ras J. Baraka in 2016 from the consolidation of divisions from the Departments of Engineering and Neighborhood and Recreational Services. Our mission is to enhance the quality of life for residents, businesses, and visitors in the City of Newark. Through our seven divisions, we aim to provide exceptional services, preserve the environment, and maintain public buildings and parks. We are committed to making Newark clean, attractive, and a desirable place to live and visit. The Department of Public Works is responsible, reliable, responsive, and always available to ensure we keep Newark clean.
